I appreciate the spirit of adventure of the Mamuchans In particular the gentleman is very polite and friendly But the female visitor renders observations that are very finite, incorrect and therefore somewhat offensive to Trinidad as it appears condescending and judgmental br1-The notion that a cab has to be taken everywhere as there is no public transport is false There are designated taxi routes and bus routes throughout the country in both rural and urban areas Unless the public transport system missed her home, as she stayed in a home in a side-street, there is public transport br2- The view that she was shocked there were no parties in random places is just ridiculous There is a thriving party scene, and Carnival, but you cannot expect to see people acting in this manner everywhere It shows imperfect understanding of the cultural diversity, geography and diligence of our people Why should people randomly be on the streets partying? Isn't that counter-productive? br3-She was shocked to see small shops selling cooked foods and grocery items attached to people's homes Ironically, this is common throughout Latin America and most developing nations, so she is misrepresenting the truth br4- The driving in Trinidad and Tobago is chaotic and some roads need repairing But so many other Latin American nations face these challenges, and arguably worse than T&T br5- Her usage of the word shocking may be indicative of a poor choice of word She mentioned the diversity of the country to be shocking-as of it was a disappointment Comment from : Cooking with Madho |

I was born in Trinidad and I left the country in 1973 I have returned a few times over the years the last visit being in 1986 I HATE THE COUNTRY and EVERYTHING ABOUT IT except for some aspects of the food which I can recreate wherever I am in my home kitchen The level of CRIME, the FILTH, the HORRIBLE ROADS, the CORRUPTION - I despise them all - and so much more! This is a very poor representation of Trinidad First of all, they seemed to be in a rural area somewhere down South in Trinidad although there are very nice areas in the South I am not sure where they were They covered very little of the food If you go to Port-of-Spain and other areas in Trinidad, there are many restaurants that offer nice local dishes and international cuisines She could have been in an area where there were a lot of Indians living to talk about their cuisine being dominant I am from Trinidad and never had oxtail or cowheel soup so I would say that they are not top national dishes I have had stewed oxtail though They did not go to Port-of-Spain, the western peninsula, the east west corridor and some other parts of Trinidad where she would have seen more of Trinidad She was totally wrong on the transportation system brbrAnyway, I would still thank her for her video I hope she really sees more on her next visit Comment from : islandgirl3330 |
